Meet Kathryn Louthain, MOT, OTR/L
Hi! I'm Kathryn and welcome to Home Front Pediatric Therapy!
When I was 20 years old and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I sat in on my first pediatric occupational therapy session with a group of kids with autism spectrum disorder. They were working on social skills by playing Uno. The kids were laughing and having a great time while they worked on turn taking, following the rules of a game, and perspective taking. I walked away from that experience a changed person, because I felt at that moment that I had found my calling in life. Ever since that day, my life has become more meaningful and fulfilling because I was truly meant to be an occupational therapist. Making a difference in the lives of the children and families I work with fills me with joy and purpose, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to do this job that I love everyday.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with children in home, community, outpatient, and educational settings. My experience spans from infancy through adolescence, supporting children with a variety of conditions including autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, developmental coordination disorder, Down syndrome and other genetic disorders, acquired and traumatic brain injury, global developmental delays, and more.
My personal approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and fun! I believe that children make the most progress when they are engaged in joyful experiences and that developing a trusting, positive relationship with the family and child are of the utmost importance. I provide not only evidence-based, professional occupational therapy, but a listening ear and confidant for parents raising children in our complex, modern world.
As a mom of two children with sensory differences and neurodivergence, I truly understand the challenges that come with raising children with unique nervous systems. My personal experience as a mom raising children with complex needs has deeply infused my practice with compassion and understanding, allowing me to connect with the families I serve on a more personal level. I've lived the daily realities you face, which helps me provide support that's both professional and genuinely empathetic.
I am so excited that you are here and look forward to chatting about how I can support your child and entire family.
